The North Yorkshire Moors is the perfect location to visit and spend some time exploring. The Moors are an incredibly special place, a place which combines history and nature to create amazing landscapes, moors and dales which are rich in local history.  As well as boasting one of the most important areas of moorland in the world, a fifth of the national park is made up of woodland and forest.  There’s also mile upon miles of stunning coastline which holds towering cliffs, craggy shores, sandy beaches, as well as sheltered bays used by smugglers for centuries.

Undoubtedly one of the best ways to view the North Yorkshire Moors is to jump on the Moors Railway running from Pickering and Whitby,  through the moors to Grosmont and Newton Dale.  On this train journey, you will even visit the areas which have made it onto the big screen, including Goathland from TV's Heartbeat which is also the home of the rail station which featured in the Harry Potter films.
